Change someone's role

Who: Super Admins. Go to: People → the person → Role.

Pick Employee, Admin or, for the Owner only, Super Admin. It takes effect straight away and the person is told.

  • Super Admins change Employees and Admins.
  • Only the Owner (the Super Admin who pays) makes someone a Super Admin, or changes or removes one. See Add another Super Admin.
  • Nobody changes their own role, and the Owner's row can't be changed: to stop being the Owner, hand the workspace over.
  • Making someone an Employee also sends anyone they approved back to the shared queue.
  • With teams on, an Admin manages only their people. For someone who looks after several stores, make them the leader of each store's team; make someone a Super Admin to see the whole workspace.

How they record hours: when Clock in is on, the person's panel shows Records hours by (also in ⋮ → How they record hours…). Choose Clocking in, Typing them, or The default for their role: Employees clock in, and Admins and Super Admins follow Settings → Managers clock in. A person on the default shows (default) and follows that setting if it changes. Super Admins can change it for anyone (themselves too); Admins for Employees. Someone who types their hours has no Clock card, isn't on the tablet, and is never marked a no-show. It's recorded in the Audit log.

Example: Tom has been a great shift lead, so Priya opens him on People and changes his Role from Employee to Admin. He now sees Approvals, Roster and People. Tom only supervises, so Priya also sets Records hours by to Typing them.
