The live shift timer on your lock screen
Who: everyone who clocks in, on a phone. Go to: Profile → Live shift timer (on by default), and Show it on the lock screen to hide the site and times there.
While you're clocked in, your phone shows your running time without opening Vaultime:
| Phone | Where it shows |
|---|---|
| iPhone (iOS 16.2 or later) | A Live Activity on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island |
| Android 16 or later | A Live Update: the timer on the lock screen, at the top of the notification shade, and as a chip in the status bar |
| Older Android | An ongoing notification on the lock screen and in the notification shade |
It counts time worked, so breaks already taken aren't included, and it switches to your break time while you're on one. Its buttons are Start break, End break and Clock out (or Scan to clock out at sites that use a code; none at tablet-only sites). A tap opens Vaultime and does exactly what the Clock card would: the location check, the scanner, Face ID if it's on.
It also starts and stops when you clock in or out at a kiosk, or when a manager changes your shift, even with the app closed. iPhones need iOS 17.2 or later for that; on older ones it appears when you next open Vaultime.
On Samsung phones the timer shows on the lock screen and in the notification shade, but not in Samsung's Now bar: Samsung only lets its own apps and a few partners use it.
Example: Jake clocks in at 7:00 and puts his phone in his pocket. At 10:00 he glances at the lock screen: 3:00:12 at 14 Smith St. He expands the notification, taps Start break, and Vaultime opens straight to the break.
